Celtics top Mavericks for 10th win, Friday

The Boston Celtics extended their season-best winning streak to 10 games by defeating the Dallas Mavericks 138-110 on Friday night. Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 32 points, including five 3-pointers, while Jaylen Brown added 25 points. Kristaps Porzingis contributed 24 points for the Mavericks, but Luka Doncic’s 37-point triple-double wasn’t enough to secure the win.

Tatum had a slow start with just two points in the first quarter but finished strong with his 22nd game of the season scoring at least 30 points. The Celtics showcased their shooting skills with 21 made 3-pointers, outscoring the Mavericks from beyond the arc.

Doncic’s impressive performance was overshadowed by the Celtics’ dominant play, with Kyrie Irving struggling to find his shot for Dallas. Despite a brief comeback attempt by the Mavericks in the third quarter, the Celtics maintained control and secured the victory with a strong finish in the fourth quarter.

Dallas coach Jason Kidd acknowledged the Celtics’ ability to capitalize on opponents’ mistakes and emphasized the importance of sound defense and shot selection against a team like Boston. Dante Exum made his return to the court after a stint on the sidelines due to a knee injury, adding depth to the Mavericks’ roster.

The Celtics will face the Golden State Warriors next, while the Mavericks will take on the Philadelphia 76ers in their upcoming games. For more NBA news and updates, visit the AP NBA website.
