The California Association of Realtors® (C.A.R.) recently announced the resignation of CEO John Sebree, who is leaving the organization to pursue other opportunities. Sebree has been with C.A.R. for two years, joining from Missouri Realtors®. A search committee will be formed immediately to start a nationwide search for Sebree’s replacement.
In a statement, C.A.R. President Melanie Barker expressed gratitude to John Sebree for his contributions during his tenure as CEO and State Secretary. Barker also announced that Debra Ferrier, the current CEO of C.A.R.’s for-profit subsidiary Real Estate Business Services (REBS), will step in as interim CEO. Ferrier, who has been with C.A.R. for 37 years, brings a wealth of experience to the role after serving in various leadership positions within the organization.
“We are confident in Debra Ferrier’s abilities to guide the Association during this transition period,” Barker commented on the appointment. Ferrier herself expressed excitement at the opportunity to lead an organization she has been a part of for many years. She emphasized her commitment to working with the leadership team, the Board, and the staff as they navigate the current challenges facing the real estate industry.
