Capitol Auto Group has recently acquired a Nissan franchise, adding to its roster of vehicle offerings in Salem. The purchase came after a fire destroyed the former Nissan dealership earlier this year. The new Capitol Nissan will be located at 3235 Cherry Ave. N.E., the former home of Capitol Subaru.
The addition of the Nissan franchise will bring a variety of affordable options to Capitol Auto’s portfolio, with many vehicles priced under $20,000. The dealership will also offer a selection of electric vehicles, catering to the growing demand for environmentally friendly transportation options.
The new franchise will be overseen by Alex Casebeer as the dealer and his brother Matthew Casebeer as the general manager. Capitol Auto Group, owned by the Casebeer family for four generations, already manages Toyota, Subaru, Chevrolet, and Cadillac franchises.
Capitol Auto is currently in the process of hiring 15 to 25 employees for the Nissan dealership, including technicians and sales staff. The company, which currently employs around 440 people in Salem, will be hosting a grand opening event in the fall to celebrate the addition of the new franchise.
The former site of the Nissan dealership on Market Street is now for sale, following the demolition of the fire-damaged building. The property is zoned for mixed-use development, allowing for a variety of potential uses, from retail space to residential buildings.
