One of the most historic businesses in the performing arts space is still finding new ways to grow in their 114th year in operation and 88th year as a franchisor.
Arthur Murray Dance Studios announced Tuesday the opening of 15 new studios in Q1 of 2026. That makes it their most successful quarter for openings since the business was founded in 1912.
Ten of the new Arthur Murray studios are located in the U.S., including Brookfield, Wisconsin; Davis, California; West Covina, California; Auburn, California; Eugene, Oregon; Stafford, Virginia; Toledo, Ohio; Olympia, Washington; Seattle, Washington and Conroe, Texas. Three locations have recently launched in Italy, with studios also opening in Israel and Peru.
“It’s exciting to see our brand increase its presence globally, and our first quarter success demonstrates the strength of the Arthur Murray model, as well as the confidence franchisees have in our growth strategy,” said Tony Padulo, Chief Development Officer of Arthur Murray Dance Studios. “We’re building on a century-long legacy while transforming how we expand our network, making it easier than ever for new and existing franchisees to grow with a system that has been leading ballroom and social dance for more than 100 years.”
This growth was largely sparked by two factors. First, Arthur Murray reached 32 new franchise agreements with existing franchisees in Q4 of 2025. That achievement reflects the brand’s longstanding strategy of limiting new franchises to existing operators and their direct team members. The other reason for their current growth is that the company is rethinking that strategy.
Now, in 2026, Arthur Murray’s Dance Studio is offering franchise opportunities to outside candidates for the first time in decades. They are seeking currently qualified independent dance school operators who are interested in converting their location into an Arthur Murray Dance Studio as well as entrepreneurs interested in opening new studios.
“Every decision we make is about helping our franchisees be successful,” said Gary Edwards, Chief Executive Officer of Arthur Murray Dance Studios. “From expanding our network of owners to supporting studio excellence, our focus is on growing strategically, developing great dance instructors and creating lasting memories for our students, which drives long-term value for our franchisees.”
