Arkema, a leading specialty materials company, has achieved a significant milestone in its global decarbonization efforts by obtaining ISCC PLUS certification for its acrylic monomers production facility in Clear Lake, Texas. This certification further solidifies Arkema’s commitment to advancing bio-attributed initiatives using a mass balance approach across all its operations worldwide.
Casey Collins, Acrylics Monomers Regional Group President, Americas, highlighted the importance of these certifications in supporting the industry-wide efforts towards decarbonization and circularity. This achievement will enable Arkema to provide its customers with lower VOC and lower carbon intensive technologies for various applications such as coatings, adhesives, new mobility, building efficiency, living comfort, engineered polymers, leather, textile, hygiene, and water treatment.
The mass balance chain of custody is a crucial component of these certifications, ensuring the appropriate allocation of content to finished goods based on auditable bookkeeping. This principle also guarantees that the renewable sources meet ISCC PLUS standards for sustainable feedstocks.
