Amphenol Industrial Sustainable Technologies has partnered up with Melni Technologies for the second time to introduce the newest addition to their RadCrimp series, the RadCrimp Solar Splice Connector. This solar junction connector has a current rating of 50 A for 8 AWG cable and 65 A for 6 AWG cable. It is designed to ensure the reliability of crimping in the field, offering technical specifications, making it simple and convenient to use, reliable and efficient.
It has a quick and easy completion system that does not require special crimping tools for field termination. The innovative Melni spiral termination technology ensures low resistance and long-term reliability. The solar splice connector can be used in new photovoltaic installations, field replacement and repair, as well as solar field modernizations. Furthermore, it eliminates the risk of crossover connectors from different manufacturers and is certified according to UL6703 and IEC62852 for 1500V DC, boasting IP68 sealing protection.
This product was developed specifically to significantly improve crimping reliability in the field while minimizing the risk of failures related to improper crimping. It provides a secure and robust power connection, which is particularly useful for new solar PV installations, retrofits, and field repairs to solar installations, ensuring a simple and quick termination without the need for specialized crimping tools.
The crimpless butt splice solar connectors are assembled by stripping the PV wire/cable, inserting them into the connector, and tightening the connector end caps to the specified torque. The RadCrimp is a single connector, effectively eliminating the risk of mating incompatible connectors from different manufacturers and violating the requirements of UL 6703. The UL 6703 certified rugged solar connector with a 50A current rating for power cable. 8 AWG and 65 A for cable 6 AWG, is ideal for any outdoor power applications, from solar to telecommunications, ESS, lighting, backup power generation, etc.
