SelectQuote launches SelectQuote Local for Medicare beneficiaries

Medicare beneficiaries across the United States are about to gain access to what so many of them have been looking for: a local resource they can use to find the ideal coverage for them.

SelectQuote, a provider of unbiased insurance comparisons since 1985, announced Tuesday that they are launching SelectQuote Local, a franchise model that will help seniors improve their usage of Medicare through local sales and support services directly within their communities.

SelectQuote Local offers seniors and their family members the opportunity to sit down face-to-face with a local Medicare expert. That human touch eliminates the long, frustrating phone conversations and unclear online experiences associated with shopping for insurance. Instead, each beneficiary receives a warmer, more personalized experience focused on connecting them with the right coverage and providing education on ways to navigate the system better.

“We see SelectQuote Local as a natural extension of our existing SelectQuote business,” said SelectQuote Chief Operating Officer Bill Grant. “We’ve helped millions of customers find the best insurance coverage to meet their unique needs. We believe SelectQuote Local creates an opportunity to extend our reach to more consumers, namely those who wish to do business with someone in their local market.”

The goal of SelectQuote Local is to give medicare beneficiaries the best of both worlds: they get the services of a community-based human insurance professional but also benefit from the cost savings associated with doing business with an established company like SelectQuote. Each office functions as an independent agency with a ZIP code-based territory but receives robust support, including coaching and extensive training on the company’s proprietary insurance-matching platform.

On Tuesday, Grant stressed that, from both a customer and a franchisee standpoint, there’s no better company in the space to be working with when it comes to getting Medicare right at the local level.

“SelectQuote is uniquely positioned to deliver on this market opportunity. No one else can match our breadth of offerings, our capabilities, our experience, or our expertise,” he said.

In addition to their experience and the strength of their portfolio, SelectQuote is also in a strong position to enter the franchise space financially.

In Tuesday’s announcement, Chief Financial Officer Ryan Clement explained, “We are already projecting meaningful operating cash flow for this fiscal year and expect cash generation to increase in the quarters and years to come. When paired with our recently finalized $415 million credit facility, SelectQuote Local, alongside our growing healthcare services business, provides a path to increasing scale and to accelerating our progress toward de-levering the business.”
