10th World Water Forum Kicks Off, Call to Arms for “Water Warriors”

The 10th World Water Forum, opened by Indonesian President Joko Widodo, took place in Bali at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC). The forum, which brought together leaders from around the world, highlighted the importance of sustainable water management, technological innovation, and global cooperation in addressing water-related challenges.

President Jokowi emphasized the need for real action and collective commitment to ensure water security through sharing knowledge and implementing integrated water resources management. The World Water Council President, Loïc Fauchon, expressed gratitude to Indonesia for hosting the event and stressed the country’s role as the water capital of the world.

The forum included political sessions, a parliamentary meeting, and events hosted by the Bali Youth Plan, such as the Global Youth Parliament for Water. The Forum Fair and Exhibition featured 160 participants from 17 countries, promoting innovative solutions for water preservation and peace.

The day concluded with a visit to the forest park Ngurah Rai, where President Jokowi emphasized the collective responsibility to conserve and protect the mangrove ecosystem. Minister of Works and Housing Basuki Hadimuljono highlighted the presence of 10 heads of state, including leaders from Indonesia, East Timor, Fiji, Tajikistan, Sri Lanka, Hungary, and Morocco, as well as deputy prime ministers and special envoys from other countries.

The 10th World Water Forum showcased the importance of global cooperation in addressing water challenges, promoting water rights, and involving younger generations in the fight for water preservation. Leaders from various countries came together to share knowledge, promote innovative solutions, and support the agenda for water security through diplomacy.
