Women in technology and entrepreneurship have made significant strides in recent years, with an increase in women’s share of technical roles within the global tech workforce. However, despite this progress, a concerning trend of talented women leaving corporate leadership positions has emerged, threatening diversity and innovation within organizations.
To address these challenges, over 100 female leaders from Australia, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore came together for an exclusive workshop called Forward: “She Empowers Others” (SheEO), hosted by SmartOSC. The workshop aimed to tackle workplace biases, leadership obstacles, and to build a strong support network for women in the tech industry.
Featuring prominent female leaders such as Meri Rosich, Ex-CDO/CIO Visa, and Geraldine Wong, CDO at GXS Bank, the SheEO workshop provided valuable insights on navigating challenges and achieving success in male-dominated industries. The workshop highlighted the importance of community and support networks in empowering women to overcome barriers to leadership.
Siew Ting Foo, a top influential marketer in Asia, identified imposter syndrome as a significant barrier holding women back from reaching their full potential. Caitlin Nguyen emphasized the role of support networks in empowering women and fostering continuous improvement both professionally and personally.
SmartOSC, a renowned eCommerce community builder, has been at the forefront of empowering women in technology since 2015. The SheEO workshop is part of SmartOSC’s Forward content ecosystem, which includes podcasts, events, and magazines, aimed at nurturing a more inclusive tech industry.
