Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, CA, is proud to announce the appointment of Deneatrice A. Lewis, MS, as the new Vice President of People, Culture, and Belonging. With a strong commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB), Pacifica is dedicated to nurturing a welcoming and inclusive environment within its depth psychological academic community.
In her new role, Deneatrice will work closely with students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni, and community partners to promote behaviors, attitudes, and policies that support diversity and inclusion at Pacifica. With a background in HR in both private and public educational environments, Deneatrice brings a wealth of experience to her new position.
During the challenges of the pandemic, Deneatrice served as the Director of Human Resources at Santa Barbara City College (SBCC) and later as the interim VP of HR. Known for her calming presence and compassionate leadership, she is committed to creating an environment where everyone feels included and valued.
Deneatrice’s approach to leadership is rooted in her belief in the value of diversity and the importance of creating a sense of belonging for all members of the community. She is dedicated to supporting faculty, staff, and management employees to help them achieve their goals and serve students effectively.
Outside of work, Deneatrice enjoys spending time with her family and seeking out new adventures. She is excited to bring her expertise and passion for equity to Pacifica Graduate Institute and contribute to the institution’s mission of education and inclusivity.
