DUBAI, Jan. 28, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — The Illuminator, the first light art festival run by the Emirates, will be held at Expo City Dubai from January 26 to February 4. The free-to-attend event features works by several local artists and is organized by Expo City Dubai in association with AGB Creative and the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority.
The festival celebrates Emirati talent through a series of stunning artistic projections, interactive installations, insightful talks and creative workshops. Artists lighting the inaugural event include Mattar Bin Lahej, Dra. Najat Makki, Dr. Mohamed Yousef, Abdulla Almulla, Maitha Hamdan, Khalid Al Shafar, and Reem Al Ghaith.
At the festival, Al Wasl Plaza’s iconic 130-meter-wide dome will feature special projections titled “Sisters of the Desert,” inspired by the late Emirati artist Dhabia Juma Lamlah, in collaboration with the Australian artist Rene Kulitja, and the South African artist Dra. Esther Mahlangu. The event also aims to encourage multicultural collaboration and features works by the Emirati Dhabia Jumaa Lamlah, the Australian Rene Kulitja, and the Dra. Esther Mahlangu from South Africa.
The festival is also associated with the Liter of Light initiative which aims to provide high-quality solar lighting to disadvantaged communities. Visitors can also pledge to support Liter of Light’s mission in communities in the Philippines, Kenya, Cameroon, and India.
