Dr. Maureen E. Marshall-Jeffers of Tinton Falls, New Jersey has been recognized for her outstanding contributions and achievements in the field of education by P.O.W.E.R. (Professional Organization of Women of Excellence Recognized). With over 30 years of teaching experience, Dr. Marshall-Jeffers retired from the New York City Department of Education in 2015 where she taught elementary and middle school and also took on responsibilities such as mentoring and serving on school committees.
Dr. Marshall-Jeffers has had a long and impactful career as an educator and administrator. She began her educational journey in Trinidad/Tobago teaching early childhood education before migrating to the US Virgin Islands where she furthered her career and family. Her passion for the arts and education has led her to strongly believe in exposing children to various disciplines including instrumental music, singing, dance, and drama to help them become socially well-rounded individuals.
Her academic achievements include a B.S. in Education from CUNY Medgar Evers College, a M.Ed. in Elementary/Special Education from Long Island University, Brooklyn campus, and an Ed.D. in Education from the College of New Rochelle. Dr. Marshall-Jeffers has not only excelled in her professional life, but she has also pursued her passion for philanthropy and learned about different international cultures through travel.
As an entrepreneur and philanthropist, Dr. Marshall-Jeffers is a member of the N.E.A. and has a deep-rooted passion for learning about international cultures, traveling extensively to countries such as Italy, Belgium, and throughout Europe, as well as most recently to Liberia, Africa. Her ongoing humanitarian work has led her to plan a return visit to Guyana, South America this upcoming August.
